The Newcastle Hunter Valley Folk Club extended itself into the Commercial World of the Newcastle CBD in 2006 when it took on the role of host to the legendary King Street Fair. Working together with businesses in the area previously known as the Tower Precinct the Folk Club engaged Gre8ing Growth a local promotions and ecvent organising consultancy to coordinate the Fair and manage the financial transactions relating to the outside stall holders and local businesses. The Folk Club was able to use the Fair to promote itself throughout the region and showcase performers who have regularly supported the Folk Club.
The Folk Club Stage provided an opportunity for performers such as Bob Campbell, Erin, The Collectables and many others to show their talents to the people of Newcastle.
Below is a poster used to promote the 2009 King Street Fair and Folk Festival. The Folk Club ended its involvement in the Fair in 2009 and unfortunately the business community of Newcastle has been unable to establish a structure required to replace the Folk Club and manage this significant community event.
