Aussie BUSH DANCE with WALCHA ROAD
For the past few years, WALCHA ROAD have ‘kicked-off’ the Folk Club’s Dance program, with their inimitable style of genuine Australian Collectors Tunes and a song or two.
Their combination of instruments include: Button Accordion, Guitar, Melodeon, Fiddle, Flute, Anglo-German Concertina and others. The band has been very pro-active in meeting with some of the Dance groups to teach and rehearse prior to this event, adding confidence to the steps and sets.
Walcha Road members are all local to Newcastle, where they are based. They play a range of dance tunes from Australia and abroad, but the core of their repertoire is traditional Aussie music. They also sing and teach bush dances.
The Band is led by Jeff Lawrie, and his ‘Merry-Muso’s’, and the Dances are all called to ‘learn-as-you-go’, so there’s no excuses! If you haven't heard them yet, you're missing something very special.
